Molasses Barbecue Beans 2 cups dried navy beans 2 cloves garlic 1 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup barbecue sauce 1/4 cup mustard 1/4 cup molasses 1 tablespoon cider vinegar salt and pepper to taste Soak the beans overnight. Combine the soaked beans with the garlic and onions in a large pot. Cover with water one inch above the beans and bring to a rapid boil. Lower the heat, cover and simmer for about 90 minutes until the beans are tender. Drain the beans and stir in the barbecue sauce, mustard, molasses, maple syrup and vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the beans for about 30 minutes on the stove set at low heat. Serve hot. |
